Project process The main project
activities are the definition of pedagogical requirements, development of Co-Lab and its components, and evaluation studies. From the start of the project, prospective users (learners and developers) of
Co-Lab are involved. Formative evaluation studies will be performed in order to evaluate the use of Co-Lab applications and to generate requirements for new versions. Learners will participate in studies
using prototypes and mock-ups of the Co-Lab environment. Aspects that will be investigated concentrate on the learning process (e.g., the ease of use of the modelling language, the structure of the
collaboration, the interface to experiments). Towards the end of the project more summative evaluations will take place that next to investigating the learning process will also concentrate on the
learning product (the knowledge that results). |

Workpackages (WP)
The project is divided into seven workpackages. Each project member fulfils a role in one or more workpackages. Workpackage 1 (WP1) deals with the user requirements and instructional specifications. WP 2
implements the software. How the demonstrators will look like will be determined in WP 3. WP4 evaluates the environment. WP5 takes care of the implementation in the schools. Exploitation and dissemination activities
will be handled by WP6, and finally the project management is taken care of in WP7. |
